From the warehouse floor to the written word
I’m Michael Smith, the editor behind Open Book Editing. Before launching this business, I spent years working in warehouse and logistics leadership, managing teams, inventory, and day-to-day operations.
In those roles, I saw how much clarity matters. A single unclear sentence in an SOP or email could slow down a shift, confuse a customer, or even create safety risks. Clear communication wasn’t just “nice to have”—it was essential.
Open Book Editing grew out of that experience. I wanted to help businesses that care about their work also show that care in the words they send to customers, partners, their own teams, and the broader professional world through platforms like LinkedIn.

My background combines hands-on operations with formal training in business, technology, and editing.

- Professional training and certification in proofreading and copyediting (Edit Republic)
