FAQ
Questions authors usually ask before hiring an editor.
Do you do developmental editing?
Not as a primary service. I focus on copyediting and proofreading. If your manuscript needs major structure, plot, character arc, or pacing work, I will tell you instead of selling you the wrong service.
What genres do you edit?
My focus is thriller, suspense, and Christian fiction. I may consider related fiction projects if the manuscript is a good fit.
Will you change my writing style?
No. The goal is to make your writing cleaner and clearer while keeping your voice intact. I may suggest changes, but I will not rewrite your manuscript into something that no longer sounds like you.
How do I know whether I need proofreading or copyediting?
If the manuscript has already been edited and you are close to publishing, proofreading may be enough. If sentences still need clarity, flow, grammar, or consistency help, copyediting is probably the better fit.
Do you offer a sample edit?
Yes. I offer a free sample edit of up to 3 pages so you can see the editing style before committing to a full project.
How long does editing take?
Timing depends on manuscript length, editing level, current schedule, and how much work the manuscript needs. You will receive a timeline with your quote.
How do we work together?
Most projects are handled electronically using Microsoft Word with tracked changes and comments. If you use another format, mention that when you reach out.
Do you guarantee publication?
No editor can guarantee publication, reviews, sales, or reader response. What I can provide is careful editing, honest feedback, and clear communication.
